It's well attached. I bought it because it's long, and the existing joint adjustment was done by tightening a lever, which didn't hold well, but this one is fixed, so it doesn't shake and maintains the angle.
I bought it because I needed to move away from the air vent, and it's perfect.
The phone holder parts are compatible with other models, so you can replace them according to your preference.
